Cannot verify digital signature (Code 52) when installing new driver

When I attempt to install or run the driver for my M-Track, I receive an error message that the digital signature cannot be verified. What do I do?

Microsoft has updated their requirement for how drivers must be signed and verified. This was rolled out to Windows users in a recent update for Windows 7 through 10. As a result, drivers that have not been updated with the latest signature will cause Windows to display a status error in the device manager that will prevent the driver from starting. The error reads:

"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)"

The driver has been installed correctly and is not damaged or malicious. Our latest driver releases will all include the most up-to-date digital signature available, which will require the latest Windows update in order to verify properly.

To resolve this:

  1. Update your Windows OS to the latest version. To update, go to Control Panel > Windows Update and select Install. For more tips on using Windows Update, check out the article below:
  2. Download and install the latest driver version from the website. The latest drivers can be downloaded from the M-Audio Drivers & Updates page or from the article below:

As long as both of these requirements are fulfilled, the driver will run and work without error.
